Welcome to Bahama Shores — where waterfront breezes meet front porch friendships.

Our neighborhood is a gem on the south side of St. Petersburg: tree‑lined streets, dolphin and pelican sightings, neighbors waving from golf carts or evening walks, and community traditions that bring us together year‑round. From picnics and plant exchanges at Dolphin Park to weekly yoga and sunset chats by the water, life here is as vibrant as it is peaceful.

What makes Bahama Shores truly special isn’t just the scenery — it’s the people. We’re a community of doers and helpers who look out for one another, keep our streets safe, and steward shared spaces like our beloved Dolphin Park. Your participation — showing up to events, volunteering, sharing ideas, and supporting our neighborhood association — is what keeps Bahama Shores thriving. This website is your hub for news, events, and ways to get involved. Thanks for being part of what makes this place feel like home.

A friendly reminder: Bahama Shores continues to draw more trick-or-treaters each year. Even after last year’s hurricanes, families still came out and filled the streets with laughter and costumes. Meet Ofi - The Chill Queen of the Block

Rescued from the mountains of Puerto Rico after a hurricane in 2020 — along with her four puppies — Ofi (short for Ofilia) has been living her best life ever since. Now a proud neighborhood sunbather, she spends her days lounging in patches of sunlight (but only if it’s not too hot), soaking in the vibes, and collecting as many pets as she can from anyone who crosses her path. She's sweet, super chill, and famously dramatic — if the petting stops, she’ll let you know with a sassy retreat to her favorite corner. Most folks recognize her by her fabulously fluffy feet and calm, loving energy.

If you see her around, don’t be shy — she’s probably already hoping you’ll stop to say hi and scratch her head!

Message from the Board:

Dolphin Park: Our Shared Waterfront Gem - And How You Help Keep It Sparkling!

One of the most unique and cherished aspects of living in Bahama Shores is our very own private waterfront oasis: Dolphin Park. This absolutely gorgeous lot, entrusted to our neighborhood association by the original builders, is a testament to the vision of creating a truly special community. It's a place where we gather for picnics, exchange plants, practice weekly yoga, cast a fishing line, or simply sit and watch the breathtaking sunrises over the water. It's a space that truly defines the Bahama Shores lifestyle.

More Than Just a Park - It's Our Park!

When you chose to make Bahama Shores your home, you became more than just a resident; you became a co-owner of Dolphin Park. This beautiful waterfront property belongs to all of us, and with that privilege comes a shared responsibility to maintain its beauty and ensure its longevity for generations to come.

The Real Costs of Paradise: Why Your Membership Matters

Maintaining a waterfront park of this caliber involves significant ongoing costs. Think about it:

  • Insurance: Protecting our shared asset.
  • Utilities: Water for lush landscaping, electricity for lighting and amenities.
  • Routine Upkeep: Regular landscaping, cleaning, and general maintenance.
  • Storm Recovery: After a major storm, expenses for clean-up, replacing damaged benches, or replanting can be substantial.

These consistent expenses are vital to keeping Dolphin Park the pristine and inviting space we all love.

A Critical Investment in Our Future: The Seawall Project

Beyond the day-to-day, we have a significant upcoming project that is crucial for Dolphin Park's future.

The existing seawall, a critical barrier protecting our waterfront, has an estimated lifespan of 5 to 10 years remaining. Replacing it is a substantial under-taking, with current estimates exceeding $50,000.

While this is a considerable investment, a new sea-wall is expected to last for more than 50 years, securing Dolphin Park's waterfront for half a century or more!

Your Annual Membership: The Heartbeat of Dolphin Park

This is where your voluntary annual membership fee truly makes a difference. Historically, your $75 annual membership fee has been the backbone of our efforts, funding not only the maintenance of Dolphin Park but also our other neighborhood gardens and beloved community events like picnics. These dues have allowed us to build a modest reserve of approximately $10,000, which is a great start, but as you can see, the seawall project alone far exceeds this.

To address the rising costs of maintenance and to begin building a more robust fund for the essential seawall replacement, the Bahama Shores Neighborhood Association will be adjusting the annual membership fee to $95 per household this year.

Let's Invest in Our Shared Legacy!

We understand that voluntary contributions require a clear understanding of their impact. We hope this breakdown illustrates just how vital your annual membership is. It's not just a fee; it's an investment in:

  • Our Property Value: A well-maintained, private waterfront park enhances the appeal and value of every home in Bahama Shores.
  • Our Quality of Life: Ensuring we continue to have this beautiful space for relaxation, recreation, and community gatherings.
  • Our Future: Protecting Dolphin Park for our children and grandchildren.

We are also exploring creative new fundraising initiatives, but the consistent support from our annual memberships remains the most critical component.

We encourage every household to renew their membership this year. Your contribution directly impacts the beauty, safety, and future of Dolphin Park - our shared slice of paradise. Let's work together to ensure Dolphin Park continues to be a source of pride and enjoyment for all Bahama Shores residents for decades to come!

Warmly,

Kylie Buckner, President
